Eduardo “Eddie” Matta Figueroa
Eddie Matta is a retired U.S. Army veteran with 22 years of active-duty military service and five overseas tours. During his military career, he developed a deep operational understanding of aviation — from the flight line to the cockpit — that forms the foundation of everything MAS does today.
He holds an FAA A&P mechanic certificate with Inspection Authorization, a Commercial Pilot Certificate, and CFI, CFII, MEI, AGI, and IGI instructor ratings — a combination that gives MAS students and aircraft owners a rare dual perspective: the mechanic who understands the cockpit, and the pilot who understands the maintenance dock.
Eddie earned his private pilot certificate in a Cessna 150G (N3984J) — a fact he mentions not as nostalgia but as a reminder that every professional pilot started somewhere. He has logged over 3,000 flight hours across multiple aircraft types and training environments.
His approach to teaching — whether A&P prep, flight training, or aircraft owner education — is direct, practical, and results-focused. No filler, no unnecessary complexity. Just what you need to know, why it matters, and how to apply it in the real world.
